I stress out about all my “to do’s” pretty often
I’m waiting for everything to be completed in order to be satisfied. Then I’ll truly feel rested.
Realistically “to dos” in my life aren’t one-step completions anymore. They may never be completed at all! And that’s a really hard adjustment. Especially as a Gen-Z in today’s quick-satisfaction culture.
I grew up completing simple assignments; homework, workout, projects. They were all goals that I could focus on and once completed, could move onto the next thing. Which meant clear and quick satisfaction right away.
True satisfaction isn’t in completing the task, it’s in the journey.
That means pursuing my writing passion is a never-completed and ever-growing “to do” I’ll have. My marriage is a “to do” that I get to enjoy the journey of. My job, laundry, meal prepping, cleaning the home, aren’t “to dos” anymore, they are life!
I’m invited into the true satisfaction of life. The journey of being faithful to show up, to be thankful, vulnerable. Which is a beautiful invitation from God. I believe it’s where real fruit will grow.
